The Origination of the Miami Chapter The Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club (MC), Miami, FL chapter, was charted by Gerald “SLO-POKE” Tillman, Lacy “Blade” Betton, and Carol “Swoop” Tillman originally members of the South Florida Chapter and newcommers William “Steel Bill” Thompson, Barry “Road Rash” Jennings, Allen “Gron-Up” Cockfield, and Sheila “SunSloper” Cockfield established the Miami chapter in Sept 2006.

Originally, Ken "Dream Maker" Thomas founded the Buffalo Troopers Motorcycle Club of Chicago (National Mother Chapter), in October 1994. The organization evolved from the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club of Chicago, which “Dream Maker” founded in October of 1993. He believed it was time to establish a modern progressive motorcycle club whose focus is to promote a positive image among African Americans that would be respected in the community and throughout the country.

The name Buffalo Soldiers was initially selected to pay homage to and ensure the legacy of the African American soldiers’ contributions in the post-Civil War era. That legacy would be carried forth by our membership. The New club was chartered as the Buffalo Troopers Motorcycle Club of Chicago for the 9th & 10th Horse Calvary Troops "Buffalo Soldiers".

The Miami, FL chapter has been established for the purpose of fostering unity, and bringing together cyclists in the Miami, Ft Lauderdale, and Key West areas for cycling related activities such as mini excursions, club rallies, and other forms of motorcycling fellowship. We are a non-profit organization of Men and Women, dedicated to the sport of Motorcycling and to the education of all people as it pertains to the African Americans in this country's history.

We ride under the name of the "Buffalo Soldiers" to express our pride in and our respect for the many accomplishments they made, during the decades following the civil war. We hope to instill some of that pride in the minds and hearts of today’s youth and our community. We believe in our community, and we believe that our representation of Heroes from the past, like the Buffalo Soldiers, will serve to strengthen the values of our community in the future.

The Buffalo Soldiers M/C popularity grew as members attended the national roundups and rallies held in various cities throughout the country. As of today the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers/Troopers Motorcycle Clubs (NABSTMC) consists of over 90 chapters throughout the US and overseas and they are divided into 5 Frontiers.

Our National web site lists the various chapters belonging to our National Organization at www.nabstmc.com. We welcome all motorcycle riders to ride with us, and as a club, we identify and assist various charitable organizations in helping others.
